Nigerian singer-songwriter Joyce Olong debuted with “Merci Beauté” in 2017 and returns this year with a new soul-stirring EP, Soseo—easily a masterclass in introspective songwriting and emotional precision.
More than just an EP, Soseo is a memoir in melody, where she delves deeper into her vault of vulnerabilities, offering songs that confess, confront, and celebrate the layered dimensions of love. Across five carefully crafted tracks, she welcomes listeners into a world that is at once tender and unflinching.
Joyce, also a producer, has carved a niche for herself among Nigeria’s most compelling alternative voices with her genre-defying sound and lush, introspective lyricism. Her music resonates deeply on a personal and universal level, captivating discerning ears with its authenticity.

Her sonic identity is a rich tapestry of influences, seamlessly blending Northern African rhythms with R&B, Soul, Reggae, and alternative pop. Growing up surrounded by a diverse mix of musical genres, Joyce developed a keen ear for melody and meaning, honing her songwriting craft through a meticulous dissection of Hip-Hop and Country-Pop.
During her time in Canada, Joyce expanded her artistry as a member of the Roots African Caribbean Society, where she honed her skills as a confident live performer, unafraid to explore her identity through sound. Her debut EP, Merci Beauté, released in October 2017, was a heartfelt project that showcased her intentional approach to music, weaving emotion, storytelling, and lush sonic palettes into each track.
Since then, Joyce has graced stages across Nigeria and internationally, leaving an indelible mark with her magnetic live performances that center on intimacy and emotion. Notable appearances include Majek Fashek’s “30 Years on Stage” celebration, Felabration, Aké Arts and Book Festival, and more.
