Nigeria House of Commons, a first-of-its-kind political reality show created to encourage young Nigerians to be more involved in leadership, governance, and civic responsibility, has just launched on YouTube on Wednesday, July 30.

With a strong debut—525 views, 12 comments, and 55 likes within 23 hours—the show, by the Africana League, discussed state policing for domestic security in its 1st episode.

Interestingly, the political show launched three days after the premiere of Big Brother Naija season 10, as if to say to critics of the latter, “Well, here is a more ‘serious’ and impactful reality show to give your attention.”

It takes on a bold civic debate where real voices unpack real issues with clarity, urgency, and conviction. The goal is clear: to inspire, educate, and activate young Nigerians to see themselves as real stakeholders in the country’s future.

Nigeria House of Commons brings together youths from all 36 states and the FCT to simulate real legislative sessions where they debate fundamental issues, pass motions, and demonstrate how policy works, all in a fresh, youth-driven format.

Some of the topics include: State policing for local security, Regulating commodity prices, Repurposing the NYSC scheme, and Extending the youth age limit in the national youth policy.
