A hidden gem recently discovered in the outskirts of Abuja. Crush rock has seen influx in recent weeks after pictures surfaced online of a rock surrounding a lake with unbelievably blue/green waters and clear blue skies went viral.

A mountain blasted for its resource, gravel with the crater left behind filled with water. Crush Rock is actually an abandoned quarry, a former mining site that turned into something beautiful.

Located along Maitama-Garui Rd, Mpape Abuja. Crush rock Is a natural beauty. Sightseers can choose a small winding footpath to the top terrace, where the grass is an ideal picnic location.
The more adventurous can continue down the path that circles and snakes down to the water’s edge.

A new location in the Abuja community, it is maintained by no one and as such, litter and other waste products left by sightseers has gradually been defacing and discouraging others from visiting the spot, save for a few individuals and groups who have gathered to clean up and set up waste bins in strategic points around the lake.

This idyllic spot could be a major tourist spot if we all could clean up after ourselves and use the waste bins.

A perfect place to watch the sunset. It’s definitely worth being a tourist destination.
