Men Talk, Real Talk: That Emotions sit naturally in the affairs of men

Vulnerability these days seems to be an over flogged topical index in the advance of society that it has almost become easily prone to misconception and misinterpretation.

This is so much that it’s often pushed towards women with little or no care towards the Male Child. As they say, charity begins at home and hence a Male Child deviates in error right from the moment he is taught not to express hurt, pain or dissatisfaction through affectionate means but relish his wrath as a panacea.

Thus, a “Hitler” was born.

If the reverse were the case, maybe society would have produced better-cultured men with more succinct respect for women and the affairs of their environment in general.

Emotions have been described by Merriam-Webster Dictionary, as a conscious mental reaction, typically accompanied by physiological and behavioural changes in the body. The consciousness of the mental reaction in a person and its physiological output occupies the major premise of this excerpt as it shows the impracticability or impossibility of separating an individual from this reaction.

In other words, emotions are natural reactions or occurrences peculiar to all of humankind and thus an inalienable human right, thus protected by both international and municipal laws of the state. For example, the Universal Declaration of Human Right (UDHR) of 1948, The African Charter on Human and People’s Right of 1986 and The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, all re-iterate and give legal protection to an individual’s Freedom of Expression; an index of every democratically instituted society.

Conclusively, the theory of emotions as I’d like to call it is not one to be affected by any little or full-blown argument, or subject to the whims of debate, but one that sits permanently in the natural default settings of man as no man can deny not to possess it.

Consequently, society, however, must inculcate adaptive ways of dealing with these different purgations of emotions no matter how bye-cultural it is or stereotypically non-conformist it may appear.

I say categorically that men are human and should be treated as such; that women are human and should feel and be treated equally the same way. That we all have different expressive ways to air our emotions, but that in no way makes it less important or derogatory.

That emotions sit naturally in the affairs of men, and that same must be nurtured to meet the best of positive and progressive societal standards needed for the advancement of Society.
