This year’s theme is an iconic one and it is to celebrate a legend in the fashion world, “Karl Lagerfeld.” This man was an exceptional being born into fashion and he changed things in the fashion industry. His ideas and creativity were epic and he touched so many lives with his work. Lagerfeld defined fashion with everything he laid hands on to work with and they all came out great.
Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer who was known for his work with several high-end fashion brands, including Chanel, Fendi, and his eponymous label. He was one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th and 21st centuries, known for his signature style of combining classic designs with modern elements.
He worked for so many top fashion houses, including Balmain, Patou, and Chloé, before joining Chanel in 1983. He remained the creative director of Chanel until his death in 2019, overseeing all aspects of the brand’s design and production. Later, he built his own fashion house called: “Karl Lagerfeld.” Many celebrities sent in their condolences after he passed away and were happy they had the opportunity to be graced by his designs and to meet with him.
Nicki Minaj is one of such people. She was graced with his presence for Elle magazine in 2018. He was part of the creative team. On her Queen Radio two days ago, she said; “That was an absolute honour. I’m so happy I got to grace. He graced me with his presence before he left this earth because that was someone that I had looked up to for a very long time and have been inspired by for a very long time. He was so sharp and handsome and everything was perfect.”
What to expect at this year’s Met Gala

Last year was a great outing and we had celebrities wearing iconic designs that matched the theme. Blake Lively was the peak of the Met Gala in 2022. She transcended into another design outfit while on the first; this was an amazing thing to see for everyone who watched the Met Gala last year. Both design wears were beautiful and she came prepared.
Blake Lively, who has just had a baby, will not be stopped to attend this year’s own. And fingers crossed, she might be the peak at this year’s own event. Her looks for last year are still in discussion and she has been praised for it. She never misses a chance to be iconic. At this year’s event, we are expecting to see her and other stars showcase another series of beautiful design wears in honour of Karl Lagerfeld.
- Beyoncé and Blue Ivy: Queen B didn’t attend last year’s gala and we are expecting to see the star turn up this year with something dynamic. Notwithstanding, we might get to see her daughter Ivy Carter at the gala this year.
- More African Stars at the Met Gala: We expect to see more actors, actresses, influencers, and musicians at the Met Gala this year especially stars like Tems. Tems has been growing largely in the international world and has attended two top events this year, The Oscars and Grammy Awards. It will be a great thing to see her at the Met Gala to showcase our culture with a touch of contemporary fashion as she did at the Academy Award which got people talking at the trend table.
