For some men, caring for their skin is one of their least priorities. The most attention they give to their skin is mainly through daily baths and rubbing with body creams. From long routines at work to simply nonchalance, quite many men rarely even think about their skin not to talk about caring for it. We believe men need to take better care of their skin.

It’s the 21st century and you don’t become half the man you are just because you devote some time and attention to care for your skin. The habit of self-care is quite beneficial and you should not feel embarrassed to adopt it.

Here are 7 reasons men need to take better care of their skin;

  • Reducing Risks Of Acne

You must have had someone who’s in a constant battle with acne around you. It’s not one of the best struggles. Acne is a skin condition that’s common among Nigerian men. Apart from the fact it makes the face look unattractive, it also gives rise to worse skin infections. You can avoid all of this when you devote more attention to caring for your skin.

  • Removing Blemishes

In a world where we’re surrounded by so much dirt, our skin takes the brunt of it. This goes on to make marks, discolourations or even spots on our faces. Blemishes on the face may be unsightly and emotionally upsetting but the good news is they can be avoided.

With a good skincare routine, you can protect your face against this problem. Exfoliating, as one helps you dissolve dead skin cells and improve your complexion with natural, antibacterial agents.

  • Protect your skin from the signs of ageing

No one likes their skin to show they are getting older. Many desire to possess that youthful essence in different aspects of their lives. Their body is one and this isn’t possible without their skin. Men exhibit signs of ageing just as women do.  Fine lines and wrinkles have chances of appearing. And if you aren’t making efforts on them, then you may start to look older than you actually are.

By adopting the habit of moisturizing your skin, you can tackle the signs of ageing and reverse existing damage, in some cases.

  • Looking Your Best

Looking good, they say, is good business. Regardless of what age you are, looking your best is important in a plethora of ways. When you maintain a regular skincare routine that includes a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, it will keep you looking and feeling better.

Studies have shown Nigerian men live longer hence the need to keep healthy, fresh-looking skin. By adopting a consistent skincare routine and sticking to it, you can look good at any age.

  • Making A Shield For Your Skin

As much as sunlight can be beneficial in small amounts, its impact on your skin can be disastrous. Exposure to the sun is one routine we find ourselves getting in, almost every day and the sad part is that we can’t avoid it. Its effect on us doesn’t manifest in a day, but you begin to feel its impact as time goes on.

When you include moisturizing into your skin routine and learn to apply sunscreen regularly, you protect your skin from ageing rapidly and from getting exposed to harmful sun rays that can cause sunburn and possibly lead to skin cancer.

  • Tackle Cell Damage

Air pollution, as an environmental problem is quite common in Nigeria and one of its effects is causing cell damage. Taking into consideration that a significant number of men work or spend a lot of time where pollution, especially auto emissions, is high, it makes good sense to protect their skin from the harmful elements emitted around.

By including a protective serum in your daily skin routine especially after shaving, you can protect yourself from these effects and keep your skin looking and feeling healthier.

  • Skin Nature

Men tend to possess thicker skin and Nigerians are no exception. Having this skin also means more oil which expresses the need for cleansing more often. This oil also means your skin is prone to attracting more dirt hence the need for a better skin routine than just taking a bath and rubbing skin lotion.

Blemishes and acne come as a result of dirt. This expresses the importance of finding a better skincare routine tailored to your unique skin to avoid them.

The skin is the face of your body. No matter how old you might be, you can get a lot of benefits from paying more attention to your skin. Understandably, you’re scared it might take a lot of time, effort or even other resources but skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. All you require is picking the correct products for your routine to be effective.

Achieving a confident feeling in how we look is instrumental in a lot of ways with a part of it being that you get to achieve a great personal style. Knowing your skin plays an important role in that quest helps you understand that taking care of it also carries equal weight.

We hope this helps you understand why Nigerian men need to take better care of their skin.
